1. Today — National Dance Day — the U.S. Postal Service will pay tribute to four influential choreog­raphers who changed the art of dance: Isadora Duncan, Jose Limon, Katherine Dunham, and Bob Fosse, with new Forever Stamps.
We’re grateful to have welcomed some of these tremendous talents at 92Y’s Harkness Dance Center.
Katherine Dunham had her New York debut here in 1937.
The first New York performance of Jose Limon’s “The Moor’s Pavane” happened here in 1947.
And Isadora Duncan was the focus of Walter Terry’s dance laboratories with lecture-demonstrations in 1949-50 and her influence is seen here today in many ways.
