92Y: update for Wednesday, Oct 31
With the continuing challenges caused by Sandy and in line with the caution encouraged by the Mayor, we will be cancelling a number of events and running a limited schedule on Wednesday. However we urge all patrons who cannot get to 92Y safely NOT to make the journey.
CANCELLATIONS
- All regularly scheduled classes — except for those in the May Center detailed below — will be cancelled
- Israeli Folk Dancing - cancelled
- Stephen Pinker and Thane Rosenbaum lecture - cancelled
- 92YTribeca - closed
- Nursery School - closed
LIMITED OPENING
- Our Himan Brown Senior Center lounge will be open for members 9-5, although classes will be cancelled
- The May Center will open on Wednesday, October 31 at 10 am and close at 8 pm, with limited programs and classes
- All children’s classes and team practices are cancelled except for the Flying Dolphins Junior Elite and Senior Squads, which will meet
- We invite all Youth and Teen members and program participants to join us for facility access beginning at 1 pm. Open gym will be available 1:30-5:30 pm and open swim 1:30-4:30 pm
- Adult classes will be held based on instructor availability. Cardiac Rehab will be held at 10:30 am only. Adult Men’s Basketball Leagues are cancelled
We invite members to bring their family and friends with them as our guests
SPECIAL COMMUNITY PROGRAMMING
We are also providing a range of special programs for local community members. These are free-of-charge as a service to our community. We will do our best to accommodate as many people as possible
- Community chess and bridge - we will have bridge and chess available 10 am-5 pm
- Noontime talk with Rabbi David Kalb. 92Y’s Rabbi will lead a session on the spiritual challenges of events such as Sandy
- Family and kids drop-in afternoon - between 1-3 pm we invite local families to stop by with your children for family drop-in sessions with our 92Y staff
- Family clay class - 1-3 pm - learn to work with clay with your family
