There was an audible gasp of surprise from the audience when Daniel Radcliffe mentioned this in his talk with Jordan Roth last night at 92Y. If you didn’t know, his mother is Jewish, and he’s quite proud of it.
Wall Street Journal, Stage Rush and Movieline all have more in-depth recaps but we particularly like his answer to this question submitted by one of our Facebook fans: What do you like best about New York that you can’t find or do back in London?
Daniel said that in London, “microwaves don’t have a button that say popcorn.”
He also said the level of anonymity offered in NYC is extraordinary. He continued:
“You should be very proud of yourself as a city, because you are part of an amazing city. Everyone talks about New York. But it is a fantastic place. And the reason it is fantastic is because it is so open and so multicultural, because you don’t have to be from New York to be a New Yorker. It is a place that engenders creativity. There’s a huge amount of warmth here for people.”
