On March 22, 1874, Dr. Simeon Newton Leo hosted the first meeting of the Young Men’s Hebrew Association (which would later become the 92nd Street Y) at his home at 320 W 33 St. How come everyone had such perfect handwriting back then?

  2. #throwbackthursday “Wow, what a bunch of baby vamps!” That’s the 20s-era slang used to describe these attractive young showgirls, the kind of thing a couple of lalapazazas might say at a beat session during the time period of our next Lyrics & Lyricists show, "Sweepin’ The Clouds Away: Boom, Bust, and High Spirits,” Feb 22 - 24. OMG, dude (Di Mi, sheik), will your future grandchildren understand today’s slang? Banana oil!
